This silk scarf design is taken from an original painting of the endemic NZ Silver Fern – Cyathea Dealbata.   This iconic tree fern, also known as ponga, is a symbol commonly associated with the country both overseas and by New Zealanders themselves.  The scarf design is an amalgamation of the upper side of the frond which is green, the silver underside that is characteristic of the plant.  The dark teal colour in the centre of the scarf gives interesting colour change to the design and accentuates the silver of the ferns.  The silver fern can grow to a height of 10 metres and occurs throughout New Zealand.   Treat yourself to this luxury hand-finished scarf and feel the soft caress of satin silk next to your skin.
